Guterres assessed the situation in Gaza at the Security Council
New York, July 24 (Hibya) - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres drew attention to the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza during a Security Council meeting.
Guterres stated, “We are facing an unprecedented level of death and destruction in recent times.”
Secretary-General Guterres noted that malnutrition in Gaza is rapidly increasing and that famine is imminent. He emphasized that UN facilities were targeted despite having shared their coordinates in advance.
Guterres also stated that the UN system has been deprived of the space, safety, and conditions necessary to save lives.
