Ghebreyesus reiterates call for ceasefire in Gaza
Geneva, September 18 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reiterated his call for a ceasefire in Gaza in a statement.
WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus said that the military operations and evacuation orders in northern Gaza were forcing traumatized families into ever-shrinking areas unworthy of human dignity, triggering new waves of displacement.
He noted that the wounded and disabled could not access safe zones, putting their lives at serious risk, and added:
“Hospitals, already over capacity, are on the verge of collapse due to increased violence, restricted access, and the prevention of WHO from delivering life-saving supplies. We call for an immediate end to these inhumane conditions. We call for a ceasefire.”
