Ghebreyesus: Over 14,000 patients still need emergency care
Geneva, July 30 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated in a briefing on Gaza that more than 14,000 patients still require emergency medical care.
Ghebreyesus noted that despite the challenges of humanitarian operations and access restrictions, the WHO today supported the medical evacuation of 47 patients and 129 companions from Gaza.
He said that 13 children and one adult were evacuated to Spain, 2 adult patients to Turkey, 4 children and one adult, plus 6 children and 2 adults to France, and 18 children to Jordan.
“We are grateful to all governments and health workers for their support and special care for the critically ill coming from Gaza. Over 14,000 patients still require emergency care. We call on more countries to receive patients for medical evacuation. Ceasefire!”
