Ghebreyesus on the Humanitarian Crisis in Sudan: The Best Medicine is Peace
Geneva, June 4 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus drew attention to the humanitarian tragedy caused by the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
In his statement, Ghebreyesus emphasized that children are facing famine and humanitarian aid workers are losing their lives: “The heartbreaking situation in Sudan continues – children are suffering from hunger, and aid workers are dying while trying to deliver life-saving assistance.”
He issued a message of condolence following the deaths of WFP and UNICEF humanitarian workers, saying: “We extend our deepest condolences to WFP and UNICEF for the loss of our colleagues.”
Ghebreyesus concluded his remarks with the words: “The best medicine is peace.”
