Iran Condemns U.S. Veto of Gaza Ceasefire Resolution at UN Security Council
Tehran, June 5 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Baghaei strongly condemned the U.S. government's obstruction of the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate end to the genocide in Gaza and a ceasefire.
The spokesman noted that the resolution was supported by 14 out of 15 council members, with only the U.S. opposing it. He added that the U.S. vetoing a resolution aimed at compelling the Zionist regime to halt the genocide in Gaza is not only a blatant disregard for the will of the international community and regional people but also a sign of the moral decline of American decision-makers and proof of their complicity in the killing of civilians and children in occupied Palestine.
Baghaei recalled the U.S.'s long-standing history of blocking any serious UN Security Council action to hold the Iranian regime accountable, noting that over the past few decades, the U.S. has used its veto more than 50 times to obstruct resolutions aimed at enforcing international law and preventing severe violations by the Israeli regime.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman emphasized the responsibility of all governments and international organizations to confront the Israeli regime's war crimes and acts of genocide.
