French village approves restriction of mobile phone use in public areas
STOCKHOLM - 11.02.2024 - HİBYA - In the south of Paris, in the Seine-et-Marne region with a population of less than 2,000 inhabitants, Seine-Port voted in a referendum held last weekend in favor of restricting the use of smartphones in public places, banning adults and children from using their devices while walking.
The ban also includes the use of mobile phones on the street, in the park on a bench next to others, in shops, cafes, or restaurants during meals, and also for parents waiting for their children in front of school gates.
Those seeking an address on their mobile phone are advised to ask for directions from others.
The village also approved regulations regarding screen use for families: according to this, in the morning, in the bedroom, before bedtime, or during meals, there will be no screens. Parents of young ones, who sign an agreement not to give smartphones to their children before the age of 15, will receive only an old-fashioned phone for calls from the municipality.
