President of the United States (US) Joe Biden made a statement regarding the upcoming ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.

Highlights from Biden's statement:

"I asked my team to work on ending the war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon for the future of the people of Israel and Lebanon and to establish lasting peace."

"With the ceasefire set to take effect tomorrow at 04:00 local time, the conflict at the Israel-Lebanon border will end. This is a planned ceasefire to bring the war to a definitive close. In the next 60 days, the Lebanese army will regain control of its territory."

"Civilians from both sides will be able to return home safely in a short period of time and begin rebuilding their lives. In line with my promises to the American people, there will be no American troops in Lebanon."

"Similarly, the people of Gaza deserve the same. The people of Gaza have lived through hell, their worlds have been destroyed. We will continue our efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza along with Turkey, Egypt, Qatar, Israel, and others."
