Berendsen: The work of the Council of Europe is more important than ever
Amsterdam, 17 June (Hibya) - Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen highlighted the importance of the Council of Europe’s work and spoke about his candidacy for Deputy Secretary General.
Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen stated that at a time when democracy, human rights and the rule of law are increasingly under pressure, the work of the Council of Europe has become more important than ever.
For this reason, he expressed his support for Tanja Gonggrijp’s candidacy for Deputy Secretary General, saying she stands out with her experience, integrity and commitment to shared values.
Berendsen stressed that strong institutions and qualified leaders are needed to protect Europe’s fundamental democratic values.
