According to a statement from the ministry, Bulgaria has made a clear commitment to fully align the management of its state-owned enterprises with OECD principles.

Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Barbalov gave a presentation on the progress made in implementing recommendations related to Bulgaria’s OECD accession review.

Barbalov emphasized that Bulgaria has made significant progress in adapting its national legislation and institutional framework to the organization’s standards, noting that reforms in state-owned enterprises aim to ensure a clearer distribution of responsibilities, greater transparency, and an effective internal control mechanism.

He also stated that Bulgaria is working to make its state-owned enterprises a model of effective management, adding that this is a key condition for international partners’ trust and successful OECD accession.

Meanwhile, the OECD Corporate Governance Committee’s working group praised Bulgaria’s progress in corporate governance and expressed expectations that the necessary legislative changes to implement key recommendations will be adopted in due time.
