At least 13 people arrested in Portland protests in the U.S.
Oregon, September 18 (Hibya) – Yesterday in Portland, Oregon, at least 13 people were arrested during clashes between far-right and far-left groups.
Far-right activists had called for a protest in the city against Antifa. Antifa also gathered to protest their arrival. Police feared the groups would engage in violent clashes and deployed about 700 officers to separate them.
Six people were slightly injured during the protests. Police seized a number of weapons from protesters on both sides.
A spokesperson for the far-right Proud Boys group, which organized the protests, said the aim was to classify Antifa as a terrorist organization. U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that Antifa would be designated as a terrorist organization.
