Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that investigators from the National Police of Ukraine and the Security Service of Ukraine are examining the details of the attack.

Referring to the investigation process and the initial details of the incident, Zelensky said: “The attacker was neutralized. He took hostages and, unfortunately, killed one person. He killed four more people on the street, and another woman later died in the hospital from her injuries.”

Expressing condolences to the victims’ families, Zelensky said: “I offer my condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. Four hostages were rescued. At present, fourteen people are reported injured. Unfortunately, this number may rise as people continue to seek medical assistance.”

Zelensky concluded his statement by saying: “Doctors are providing all necessary medical care. We wish all the injured a speedy recovery.”
