Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said rescue operations were continuing following Russia’s attack on the building of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences.

Zelensky said searches were ongoing for people who might be inside the building and that efforts to extinguish the fire were continuing.

Stating that all emergency and service units had been dispatched to the area, Zelensky said a pharmaceutical company and fuel stations in Kyiv, as well as a business center in Dnipro, had been targeted.

Zelensky said civilian facilities, businesses and communications infrastructure in other cities and regions had also been hit. Noting that there were fatalities in the attacks, he offered condolences to the relatives of those who were killed.

Zelensky said, “Russia will definitely face a response for this,” adding that Ukraine’s partners should recognize that support for the country is aimed at protecting people’s lives and preventing terrorism from becoming normalized.

Zelensky argued that Russia must be held accountable for what happened and thanked those who are helping Ukraine.
