Zelenski: At that time, NATO demonstrated its strength
Kyiv, September 11 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski commemorated those who lost their lives in a message marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks and emphasized the importance of the solidarity demonstrated by NATO.
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, while honoring the memory of those who lost their lives in the tragedy of September 11, highlighted the heroes who took part in search and rescue efforts and the principle of collective defense.
Referring to the meaning and significance of the day, Zelenski said: “Today is an important day; a day of strong people, but also a day marked by a profound tragedy. Twenty-five years ago, on September 11, people came under attack. A terrible attack, a tragedy, took place in the United States of America. Around 3,000 people from 90 countries around the world, including Ukrainians, lost their lives.”
Expressing his gratitude to those who served during the attack, Zelenski said: “We respectfully remember all the heroes who did everything they could that day to save the lives of others — police officers, firefighters and simply caring people, including those of Ukrainian origin. We offer them our respect, admiration and condolences.”
Zelenski concluded his statement by saying: “At that time, NATO demonstrated its strength. It was extremely important to respond to terrorism and to invoke Article 5.”
