According to a statement from the Bulgarian Presidency, Yotova stressed that the planned European Competitiveness Fund should support the development of smaller and less-developed member states, while expressing reservations about proposals to merge the cohesion policy with the Common Agricultural Policy.
During the meeting, the two sides agreed that Europe's competitiveness could be strengthened by reinforcing cohesion policies, establishing integrated capital markets, simplifying funding procedures, and increasing investments in high technology and artificial intelligence.
Yotova also recalled that Bulgaria is one of the six countries selected by the European Commission to host an artificial intelligence gigafactory, stating that the country has the potential to become a major high-tech hub.
