Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong discussed areas of cooperation aimed at strengthening bilateral relations during a meeting with Timor-Leste Foreign Minister Bendito Freitas.

During the meeting, the implementation of the “Parceria” declaration previously signed by the leaders was reviewed, while Timor-Leste’s role within ASEAN and its contributions to regional integration were also discussed.

Minister Wong emphasized that Australia and Timor-Leste are “partners, friends, and neighbors,” highlighting the importance of closer cooperation in economic development, defense, and security.
