WHO: Over 30 people die from drowning every hour
Geneva, December 13 (Hibya) – The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that over 30 people die from drowning every hour, and in 2021 alone, this number reached 300,000.
The WHO stated that the global drowning mortality rate has decreased by 38% since 2000.
In the WHO’s first report on drowning prevention, this significant achievement in global health was highlighted. However, despite the progress, drowning remains a major public health concern.
The statement emphasized that over 30 people die from drowning every hour, and in 2021 alone, this number reached 300,000.
