WHO calls for measles vaccination: Protect your baby with 2 doses
Geneva, August 2 (Hibya) – The World Health Organization (WHO) said babies should receive two doses of the measles vaccine to be protected, noting that vaccination schedules may vary by country.
The WHO urged families to vaccinate their babies to protect them against measles.
In a post on the WHO’s social media account, it was stated that babies need two doses of the measles vaccine for full protection.
The statement noted that in countries where measles is common, it is important to administer the first dose at around 9 months of age, while in other countries it may be given between 12 and 15 months.
The WHO said the second dose should be administered later in childhood to ensure full protection.
The statement added that during outbreaks or before traveling to countries where measles is common, babies may also be vaccinated at around 6 months of age.
