The WHO reported that an additional 431 million people gained access to essential health services without incurring catastrophic costs, thanks to a stronger health workforce, improved hypertension and contraception coverage, and expanded HIV treatment.

According to the WHO statement: “An additional 637 million people are better protected against health emergencies due to stronger pandemic preparedness, early detection, and equitable access to countermeasures. 1.4 billion people — exceeding the target of 1 billion — are living healthier lives due to reduced tobacco use, improved air quality, and expanded access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).”
