German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated that Yad Vashem plays an important role in preserving, digitizing and making eyewitness testimonies and written accounts accessible to a wider audience.

Emphasizing that combating the trivialization and denial of the Holocaust is both a duty and a responsibility for Germany, Wadephul announced that the German government will increase its annual financial support for Yad Vashem from 1 million euros to 5 million euros in the coming years.

Wadephul said that the increased funding will support the digitization of Yad Vashem's archives as well as the institution's educational activities.
