Wadephul: Agreement between Israel and Lebanon offers hope
Berlin, June 27 (Hibya) – German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said the agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon strengthens the security of both countries and offers an opportunity to resolve a conflict that has lasted for decades.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul commented on the agreement between the two countries, the mediation efforts, and Berlin's support for the process.
Referring to the importance of the agreement and the diplomatic contribution, Wadephul said: “The agreement between Israel and Lebanon offers hope. It strengthens the security of both countries, is based on direct understanding, and offers a chance to resolve a conflict that has lasted for decades. I am very grateful to the United States and Secretary of State Rubio for their mediation efforts.”
Emphasizing the priorities for the implementation phase, Wadephul stated: “Now, implementing the agreement is crucial. Germany will support this path. It is essential that Lebanon reliably enforce the state's monopoly on the use of force. Equally important are clear security guarantees for Israel.”
