According to CCTV, the senior US official stated that Trump and his team are discussing various options to achieve this key foreign policy goal, including purchasing the region from Denmark, establishing a free partnership with Greenland, and utilizing the US military.

The official noted that Trump wants to incorporate Greenland into the US during his term and that the issue of acquiring Greenland will remain on the agenda.

A White House statement said that, despite opposition from some NATO leaders, acquiring Greenland is a national security priority for the US, with Trump actively working to reach an agreement.

On the same day, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also stated in a secret briefing to lawmakers that the Trump administration's current hardline stance on Greenland does not mean an imminent military operation, and that the primary goal is to purchase the island from Denmark.
