UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Türk highlights civilian losses in Beirut
New York, July 26 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said that during his visit to Beirut he met people who had lost relatives and their homes in Israeli attacks, drawing attention to the losses suffered by civilians.
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk made a statement following his meetings in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
Türk said he had met people who had lost relatives and their homes in the Israeli attacks, adding that the pain, despair, and disappointment experienced by civilians were evident.
Emphasizing that civilians had paid a heavy price in the attacks, Türk said the common message he received from those he met was a call for justice.
