New York, May 28 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk called on the parties to de-escalate tensions and return to the negotiating table, noting the increasing number of civilian casualties in Ukraine.
United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk issued a statement regarding the rising civilian casualties in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Türk stated that civilian casualties in Ukraine had increased significantly, calling for an end to tensions and threats and for the parties to immediately return to the negotiating table.
The statement noted that the number of civilians killed and injured in Ukraine during the first four months of 2026 increased by 21 percent compared to the same period last year.
