United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk issued a statement regarding the bombing that targeted civilians worshipping at the Khadija al-Kubra Mosque in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.

Türk stated that he joined the condemnation message issued by UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

Referring to the devastating impact of the attack on human rights and freedom of religion, Türk said:

“Joining António Guterres, I condemn the horrific attack targeting worshippers at the Khadija al-Kubra Mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan. Such crimes must strengthen our determination to protect freedom of religion and all human rights. Accountability is essential.”
