According to a statement by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, by decision of President Vladimir Putin, the Russian side will declare a ceasefire from midnight of May 7-8 until midnight of May 10-11.

The statement reads:

"By decision of the President of the Russian Federation and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and for humanitarian reasons, the Russian side has decided to declare a ceasefire from midnight of May 8 until midnight of May 11 (from May 8 00:00 to May 11 00:00), during the days marking the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. During this period, all military actions will be halted. Russia believes that the Ukrainian side should demonstrate similar restraint. In the event of a violation of the ceasefire by the Ukrainian side, the Russian Armed Forces will respond appropriately and effectively. The Russian side once again reaffirms its readiness for unconditional peace talks to address the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis and to cooperate constructively with international partners."
