Minister Szijjarto announced that he had a long phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

He thanked President Trump and the U.S. government for their peace efforts, saying: “Trump is the only leader capable of restoring peace in Central Europe, and unlike some European politicians, Hungary stands firmly behind his mission.”

Szijjarto added that Rubio assured him President Trump would not give up, which gave real hope that the devastating war could finally end, and he continued:

“We also discussed our bilateral relations, which have entered a new phase based on friendship and mutual respect. Since President Trump took office, six U.S. investments have been announced in Hungary, and we have committed to turning to U.S. technology in small modular nuclear reactors to ensure Hungary’s secure energy supply.”
