Szijjarto: Brussels’ overly ideological foreign policy is isolating Europe
Budapest, 25 November (Hibya) – Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto criticized the European Union’s approach to cooperation with China, stating that major powers act with common sense.
Szijjarto said that during today’s Foreign Affairs Council meeting, he heard some colleagues describe close cooperation with China as “dangerous” and “unacceptable.”
He added that he learned that U.S. President Donald Trump and China’s President Xi Jinping held a successful phone call today.
The minister noted: “Unfortunately, this has long been the case: Brussels’ overly ideological foreign policy is isolating Europe, while major global powers reach agreements based on common sense. The European Commission, meanwhile, only harms the European economy.”
