Israeli Foreign Minister Saar signs security cooperation agreement in Paraguay
Asuncion, 24 November (Hibya) – Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar met with Paraguayan President Santiago Pena, emphasizing the importance of bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and joint work in the field of security. He also signed a security cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Paraguayan Defense Minister General Oscar Gonzalez.
Foreign Minister Saar met President Pena in the Paraguayan capital, Asuncion. The meeting addressed the strengthening of bilateral and economic relations, as well as developments in the Middle East and Latin America. Saar introduced the economic delegation accompanying him and discussed Paraguay’s steps to highlight the moral dimension in its foreign policy.
As part of the meeting, Saar and General Gonzalez signed an important security cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU). The two countries also agreed to launch a joint dialogue in the fields of intelligence and counterterrorism.
Minister Saar stated that Lebanon will remain effectively under Iranian occupation as long as Hezbollah is not disarmed. The meeting also discussed diplomatic matters such as the relocation of the Jerusalem Embassy and the recognition of certain terrorist organizations.
Saar emphasized that the strategic partnership between Israel and Paraguay is being deepened in the long term.
