Syrian Foreign Minister Al-Shaibani visits Pakistan
Damascus, August 21 (Hibya) - Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani discussed strengthening relations between the two countries and developing cooperation during his official visit to Pakistan. The visit marked the first trip by a Syrian foreign minister to Pakistan after the formation of the new Syrian government.
Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Al-Shaibani visited Pakistan on August 19-20, 2026, at the invitation of Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
During the visit, Al-Shaibani held bilateral meetings with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The talks reaffirmed the long-standing relations between Pakistan and Syria and emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional engagement between the two countries.
The parties agreed to reactivate existing institutional mechanisms as soon as possible. They also discussed expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest and strengthening contacts between the peoples of the two countries.
Al-Shaibani also met with Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The Syrian Foreign Minister additionally held meetings with Pakistan’s Minister of Interior and Narcotics Control, Minister of Commerce, Chief of Army Staff and Commander of the Defense Forces.
In a statement, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the visit contributed to establishing a new framework for strengthening friendship ties between Pakistan and Syria and developing bilateral cooperation.
