"Today marks exactly one month since Russia refused to accept the comprehensive temporary ceasefire proposed by the United States. On March 11 in Jeddah, Ukraine unconditionally accepted the proposal. Russia, however, rejected it and instead presented various conditions and demands, while continuing to escalate terror against civilians. From March 11 to April 11, Russia attacked Ukraine with approximately 70 different types of missiles, over 2,200 Shahed drones, and more than 6,000 guided aerial bombs. These were Russia’s responses to peace proposals. This is typical of Russia’s behavior: lying, manipulating, and continuing terror. For a whole month, there could have been silence and confidence-building steps towards a just peace — the peace desired by the US, Europe, and other partners. Russia is the only obstacle to peace and the sole source of war. We do not need to wait another month to increase pressure on Moscow. Russia must face real strength in order to take peace seriously."
