Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reacted to the report published by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), stating that the statement did not reflect the true context of the war and that the organization had shared incomplete data regarding the incidents.

Drawing attention to UNICEF's position, Sybiha said, "It is deeply regrettable that UNICEF's August 4 statement misses the fundamental point: all of these child deaths are a direct consequence of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. By presenting these losses without this essential context, UNICEF creates a false equivalence between the aggressor and the victim."

Addressing shortcomings in the data presented in the statement, Sybiha said, "Moreover, UNICEF's statement lacks basic fact-checking. It failed to mention that the casualties in Russia's Krasnodar were caused by a drone reportedly intercepted by Russian air defenses. It also failed to verify information regarding casualties in Ukraine: in the Dnipropetrovsk region, not three but seven children from one family were killed."

Referring to the latest loss of life, Sybiha said, "And yesterday, Russia killed another 3-year-old boy in the Kyiv region."

Calling on the international organization, Sybiha concluded his statement by saying, "These are Russia's war crimes. We call on UNICEF to condemn these heinous crimes and urge Russia to stop killing innocent Ukrainian children."
