Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha, together with his Norwegian counterpart Espen Barth Eide, visited Vytachiv to present the replica of the Alstad runic stone commemorating a Viking who died in the region a thousand years ago.

Highlighting the importance of cultural diplomacy, Sybiha said: “This kind of cultural diplomacy shows that Ukraine and Norway share a common history spanning thousands of years. Such monuments bring our nations even closer together. Cultural and historical ties are also a security factor.”

Emphasizing the political impact of historical facts, Minister Sybiha concluded: “These historical facts refute the Kremlin’s so-called historical manipulations. Ukraine’s ties with Scandinavia and Norway have a history spanning centuries.”
