Statement Regarding Central Park Tanker with Communication Cut Off in the Gulf of Aden off the Coast of Yemen
The General Directorate of Maritime Affairs has announced that the cargo ship named "Central Park," operated by Zodiac Maritime, has been hijacked in the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Yemen. It was reported that 2 Turkish citizens were also on board.
A statement has also been issued by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs regarding this matter. The statement indicates that there were 2 Turkish citizens on board the hijacked ship, and it says the following:
"The chemical tanker named 'Central Park,' owned by Zodiac Maritime, was sailing in the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Yemen when communication was cut off this morning, and since then, no contact has been reestablished. The ship is believed to have been hijacked. On board were Turkish seafarers Captain Aydın Hasırcı and Fourth Captain Okan Yüksel, and constant communication is being maintained with the relevant company and other agencies. The issue is being followed up by our Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
