Sanchez recalled that on March 14, 2020, Spain stood against the greatest pandemic of the century, saying: "Today, five years after that tragedy, during which we lost many lives, our country is stronger and more prepared to deal with health crises."
Prime Minister Sanchez emphasized that they now have a stronger healthcare system and stated:
"Early detection and response mechanisms, increased intensive care unit capacity, 184,000 more healthcare professionals compared to 2020, and other resources: a National Strategic Reserve consisting of essential medicines, vaccines, and medical supplies for crisis times. A more flexible and resilient workforce thanks to remote working, safety protocols, and social protection mechanisms such as ERTE. A more competitive and diversified economy that is less dependent on tourism and hospitality but focuses more on energy, technology, and science."
Sanchez emphasized that they overcame this challenge together with Europe's and science's help, adding: "Together, with the same allies, we will overcome all the challenges that await us in the future."
