Qatar's International Media Office issued a statement regarding the article published by The New Yorker on September 19.

The statement said the allegations in the article were rejected, arguing that they were based on “fake and fabricated information.”

The statement said that before publication, The New Yorker had been provided with clear evidence showing that the “Blast documents” and other documents used as the basis for the article were fake, adding that proceeding with publication despite this raised questions about editorial judgment.

The statement said that the documents in question had previously been sent to other media organizations and that some outlets chose not to publish them after being presented with evidence showing that the documents were fake.

Qatar's International Media Office argued that the documents were part of a broader disinformation campaign targeting Qatar. The statement alleged that there was strong evidence that various parties, including far-right elements in Israel, had for years been involved in creating and circulating fake documents through the media.

The statement also rejected allegations that Qatar had sent money to Hamas, arguing that Qatar's aid was directed to Palestinian civilians in Gaza in coordination with Israeli authorities and international partners. It said that under previous aid mechanisms, money and supplies such as food, medicine and fuel passed through Israel before entering Gaza and that Israel was involved at every stage of the process.

The statement said that Qatar's aid had been provided under successive Israeli governments and with the involvement of Israeli security agencies, arguing that if any funding reached Hamas, it was not connected to Qatar.

Qatar's International Media Office claimed that the allegations were circulated with the aim of undermining Qatar's mediation role and obstructing peace efforts in the region.

The statement also urged media organizations to remain vigilant against disinformation, emphasizing the need to maintain verification and analytical standards, particularly in reporting on complex geopolitical issues.

Qatar said it was considering appropriate legal options to prevent further dissemination of the information and to avoid misleading the public.
