Putin on the Starobelsk attack: Conclusions will be drawn regarding those responsible
Moscow, May 22 (Hibya)- Russian President Vladimir Putin described the attack on a student dormitory in Starobelsk as a “terrorist act,” blamed the Ukrainian administration, and announced that an investigation had been launched into the incident.
Russian President Putin made a statement regarding the attack that occurred on May 22, 2026, in the Ukrainian city of Starobelsk during a meeting with graduates of the “Time of Heroes” training program.
Putin claimed that drones had attacked the student dormitory affiliated with the Starobelsk Pedagogical College, stating that 6 people were killed, 39 were injured, and 15 people were being searched for as missing.
Arguing that the attack “was not accidental,” Putin stated that the target had been struck in three waves by 16 UAVs. Holding the Ukrainian administration responsible for the attack, Putin described the incident as a “terrorist act.”
In his statement, Putin also said that Russia would provide information regarding its claims to international organizations and that he had instructed the Ministry of Defense to prepare proposals concerning the incident.
The Russian leader also voiced strong criticism regarding both the developments on the ground and the internal situation of the Ukrainian administration, arguing that the events were connected to the course of the war.
