Belgium's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prevot said that Arctic security is a common issue that allies need to address together, and this process must be conducted with full respect for international law, including sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of borders.

Prevot also stated that the possibility of any part of the Kingdom of Denmark being taken over is unacceptable and unthinkable, and added:

"The path to be followed must go through dialogue with the people of Denmark and Greenland; a show of force against a NATO and European ally is absolutely out of the question."
