Press conference held for Kar Spor Ida Ultra
A press conference was held ahead of Kar Spor Ida Ultra, which will bring together nature and endurance on Mount Kaz. With five routes and 1,250 runners from 16 countries, the event will feature the 15K, 36K, 66K and 110K races tomorrow and the 8.5K race on Sunday, 30 November.
The press conference at Hattuşa Vacation Thermal Club was attended by Edremit Mayor Mehmet Ertaş, Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Gulf Coordinator Yurt Yıldırım, Kar Spor İDA Ultra Organization Committee Chair Polat Dede, Hattuşa Group Tourism Director İsmail Eyvaz, Kar Spor Chair Atakan Alaftargil, Edremit Chamber of Commerce Chair Ahmet Çetin and many guests.
This year marks the 9th edition of Kar Spor Ida Ultra, featuring 110K, 66K, 36K, 15K and 8.5K routes. As the only race covering two provinces—from Çanakkale to Balıkesir—it offers runners an unforgettable adventure across the oxygen-rich Kaz Mountains.
The race is organized by Rossist Event under title sponsorship of Kar Spor and supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Health, governorates, municipalities, athletic federations, rescue organizations and sponsors including Hattuşa, Züber, Manici Kasrı Hotel, Gürel Garden House, Eker, 2AS and Salewa. Its social responsibility partner is Adım Adım.

A total of 1,250 runners from 16 countries—including Turkmenistan, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Japan, TRNC, Liberia, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, France, Nigeria, Austria, Chile and Angola—will compete in challenging yet enjoyable stages.
Mayor Ertaş said: “Ida Ultra is now an international brand that showcases the nature and culture of Edremit.”
He added: “The event greatly contributes to the local economy, and we will continue strengthening sports tourism.”
Yıldırım said: “Participants will spend three days under the olive tree—a symbol of peace.”
