Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic visited members of the Croatian Air Force's 855th Firefighting Squadron.

Plenkovic said that during the challenging wildfire season they visited the personnel at the "Colonel Mirko Vukušić" Barracks in Zemunik Donji, expressing their respect and gratitude for their dedication.

Emphasizing the commitment of the teams, Plenkovic said: "The squadron's members—pilots, co-pilots, aviation technicians, engineers, logistics and command personnel—ensure every day that the system remains ready and capable of responding rapidly when it is needed most. Thanks to them and the other components of the homeland security system, Croatia is a safe country that helps others."

Providing details on financial support for the sector and new projects, Plenkovic said: "Since our government took office, we have invested €580 million in Croatia's firefighting service, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. An additional €300 million in investments is underway, including new firefighting aircraft, tanker trucks, modernization of the system, and strengthening the protection of the islands, with the procurement of the new DHC-515 firefighting aircraft being of particular importance."
