Numerous suspects referred to military court over alleged unlawful exemptions from military service
Abu Dhabi, October 30 (Hibya) - The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Military Public Prosecution decided to refer several suspects to the Military Criminal Court over allegations of improperly granting exemptions and exceptions from national and reserve military service and unlawfully altering records certifying the completion of military service.
According to a statement from the UAE Ministry of Defence, the investigation found that official records, documents, and medical reports had been falsified to enable certain individuals subject to military service to bypass established procedures. The allegations also included abuse of public office and improper use of authority.
The military prosecution brought separate charges against the suspects, including public officials and individuals subject to military service, according to their respective roles in the investigation. The suspects are expected to appear before military judicial authorities to answer the allegations against them.
The Military Attorney General emphasized that national service is a duty to the homeland, an honor, and a responsibility, stating that conducting related procedures with integrity strengthens justice and equality. He noted that legal proceedings would continue against individuals who commit irregularities to evade military service or misuse their positions to facilitate such practices.
