European Parliament President Metsola made remarks at an event held at the European Parliament as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Metsola said a cancer diagnosis significantly affects the lives of families and that the disease can have even more serious consequences for children.

Metsola said the story of Léonor, a childhood cancer survivor, was shared at the event, adding that many families across Europe face difficulties in accessing medicines and receiving equal access to healthcare services.

Metsola said children fighting cancer and their families should be able to access the healthcare services they need.
