Merz: Israel’s security and right to exist are part of German state policy
Berlin, June 1 (Hibya) – German Chancellor Friedrich Merz held a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Chancellor Merz stated that Israel’s security and right to exist are part of German state policy.
Emphasizing this during the phone call with Prime Minister Netanyahu, Merz said: “The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement must release all hostages and lay down its arms. I hope an agreement will be reached soon on releasing the hostages and establishing a ceasefire.”
Merz pointed out the necessity of delivering sufficient humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and distributing it safely to civilians, adding: “For the German government, a two-state solution based on negotiations is the best chance for peaceful coexistence between Israelis and Palestinians.”
