Major protests erupt across the US after immigration police kill a woman
Washington, 11 January (Hibya) – As anger spread following the killing of a Minnesota woman by an ICE immigration agent on Wednesday, large nationwide protests continue against the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
According to CNN, police in Minneapolis used pepper spray against demonstrators.
More than 1,000 protests under the banner “ICE Out For Good” are planned across the United States over the weekend.
Police reportedly used pepper spray on Saturday after a small group threw snowballs at cars.
Many people were detained on Friday, as protesters gathered outside a hotel housing ICE agents.
CNN reported that 29 people were detained Saturday night and later released. One police officer was slightly injured.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey emphasized that most protesters were peaceful.
The protests were sparked by the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renee Good by an ICE agent earlier in the week.
Demonstrations also continue in Los Angeles outside federal buildings.
