Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said that he held a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Stating that they discussed the Peace Council proposal presented by the United States, Lula da Silva said, “In this context, we advocate strengthening the United Nations and agree that peace and security initiatives must be in line with the authorities of the Security Council and the principles and purposes of the UN Charter.”

Lula da Silva also noted that they exchanged views on the situation in Venezuela, condemned the use of force in violation of international law, and emphasized the importance of peace and stability in South America and around the world.
