Lazzarini: Hepatitis A is spreading in Gaza, including among children
New York, August 3 (Hibya) – Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), reported that hepatitis A is spreading in Gaza, including among children.
Lazzarini noted that people in Gaza are facing another danger: "Hepatitis A is spreading, including among children. Since the war began, @UNRWA had reported about 40,000 cases in our shelters and clinics, while before the war, during the same period, there were only 85 cases. This is a frightening increase."
Lazzarini emphasized that the waste management system in Gaza has collapsed and that garbage piles are accumulating in the summer heat.
