Lahbib: International humanitarian law cannot be bent to suit political interests
Brussels, September 18 (Hibya) - European Union Commissioner for Crisis Management and Humanitarian Aid Hadja Lahbib said international humanitarian law cannot be bent in line with political interests.
European Union Commissioner for Crisis Management and Humanitarian Aid Hadja Lahbib drew attention to the large number of armed conflicts around the world, saying the European Union's message is that international humanitarian law cannot be bent for political convenience.
Lahbib said the 2025 report on the EU's guidelines for promoting compliance sets out how this approach should be implemented. She said she would defend international humanitarian law at events to be held as part of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
