Kazakhstan FM Kosherbayev meets UNDRR head Kishore
Astana, April 24 (Hibya) - Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev met with UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Disaster Risk Reduction and Head of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Kamal Kishore.
Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev met with Kamal Kishore, who arrived in Astana to attend the Regional Environmental Summit as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Disaster Risk Reduction and Head of UNDRR.
During the meeting, Kosherbayev emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to implementing the 2015–2030 Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, including preventive measures, risk analysis, and the adaptation of urban infrastructure to climate change in line with the country’s international obligations.
Kishore expressed his appreciation to the Regional Economic Community (REC) for the warm welcome and intensive program.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue dialogue on implementing best practices in emergency prevention.
