Israeli Minister Faces Harsh Protest in Washington
Washington, April 30 (Hibya) – Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir faced harsh protests during his recent visit to the United States.
On Tuesday, Ben-Gvir engaged in a heated exchange with a group of protesters at the U.S. Capitol in Washington.
He was met by protesters calling him a “war criminal” and a “racist pig,” accusing him of participating in genocide.
Throughout his U.S. trip, Ben-Gvir faced multiple confrontations. On Thursday, a protester stormed a closed event in Manhattan shouting “Get out of New York!” During his visit to the headquarters of the Orthodox Jewish movement Chabad-Lubavitch in Brooklyn, clashes erupted between protesters and counter-protesters, resulting in six arrests.
Ben-Gvir’s visit sparked mixed reactions within the American Jewish community. Three members of the Jewish leadership organization Shabtai near Yale University resigned after one of its founders decided to host an event with Ben-Gvir.
David Vincent Kimel, one of the members who resigned, said: “This is like a white supremacist group hosting an event with the Ku Klux Klan.”
