Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a condolence message for two reserve soldiers who were killed in clashes in southern Lebanon.

In a post on social media, Katz extended his condolences to the families of Lieutenant Colonel (Res.) Harel Birnstock, company commander in Battalion 2855, and Master Sergeant (Res.) Tamir Veknin, who served in the same battalion.

Katz said, "Harel and Tamir answered every reserve duty call with great dedication, sacrifice, and a profound sense of duty. They lost their lives while serving to protect the security of the State of Israel and the citizens living in the north."

He also wished a speedy recovery to the soldiers wounded in the clash, saying, "I embrace their families during these most difficult days and wish our four wounded fighters a full and speedy recovery."

Katz concluded his statement by saying, "May their memory be blessed."
