Minister Harris expressed his pleasure at meeting Senator George Mitchell in Dublin.

Harris noted that 27 years have passed since the talks chaired by Mitchell opened a new and fundamental chapter for the island, stating, “It is remarkable that someone who gave so much to Ireland continues to contribute in such a meaningful way even years later.”

He said every man, woman, and child on this island owes him a debt of gratitude, adding, “Senator Mitchell spoke of passing the torch to new generations, calling on young people to play a role in building a positive, prosperous, and peaceful future. Today, I can echo that same call.”
